In May and June 2022, Creative Ideas started piloting of the “Week of Culture” in Latvia. The piloting is implemented with 9 and 12 year old pupils of the Riga Hansa secondary school. They painted Ivan Shishkin’s painting “Morning in the Pine Forest”, drew Chinese hieroglyphs using green ink and a brush, draw with charcoal as in old times and made sculptures from plastelin. Next, pupils listened to the sounds of nature – forest, wind, water, meadow, rustling leaves, and rain and had to guess what sound it was. They did not believe nature could sound like that! Finally, pupils got to know more about the Latvian traditional costume. The piloting in Latvia will continue in September 2022.
The “Cultura Universalis” training program is expected to raise awareness of cultural diversity and better behaviour towards people from different cultures and also additional knowledge on didactic methods for improving intercultural competence to pupils.
